The Dead

The Dead come in both Lesser and Greater forms.

Greater Dead can control Lesser, and usually are denizens of the Seventh Gate or later. They are wily and intelligent, well versed in ways to avoid their final death.

Lesser Dead

Dead Hand - A corpse reanimated by a necromancer. They decay quickly in the sunlight.
Gore Crows - Ordinary crows killed and infused with a single driving dead spirit. They die again quickly, especially in the sunlight. Generally made in huge flocks where their numbers are dangerous, they can also be made in smaller amounts to increase the amount of time they can survive in Life.
Mordaut - A small creature that resembles a rat, they can possess and take control of a living body. They must take the life force of others still in order to survive like this however.
Mordicant - One of the most powerful types of Lesser Dead. A body of moulded bog-clay and human blood, infused with Free Magic and controlled by a Dead spirit within. While powerful, they must be created by a necromancer, and thus cannot be considered one of the Greater Dead as a result, despite their power and intelligence. They can cross between Life and Death at will.
Shadow Hand - A spirit called from Death by a necromancer. Unlike Dead Hands, they have no physical form, and as such can change their appearance as needed. They are still weakened by sunlight.

Greater Dead

Resters - While most Greater Dead are unique in shape and appearance, there is a colloquial name for some. Known as Fifth Gate Resters, they spend a long time within the Fifth Precinct, their shape warped by the deep water until they are no longer human.
